¡Hola! My name is Maly and I am a Chinese-Venezuelan, New York City-raised, Virginia resident. I am also the mother of two beautiful biracial boys, Liam and Lucas. Despite migrating thousands of miles to the land of opportunity, I met and fell in love with another fellow Venezuelan here in the States. We tied the knot and decided to put down roots closer to family in Richmond, Virginia.
Growing up as a daughter of Chinese immigrants in Venezuela, and as a Chinese-Venezuelan immigrant in the US, has infinitely shaped the person that I am today. The lenses through which I see the world are filtered with my experiences as I navigate through different cultures and languages on a day-to-day basis. When my husband and I decided to start a family and raise our children in suburban America, I was certain that their experiences will be different from my own. But that doesn’t mean they will be any less adventurous, exciting, and culturally enriching.
Documenting my journey through multiracial, multicultural and multilingual parenthood is my way of writing down our legacy-building moments, thoughts, and reflections (read more about how the idea for this blog came about here). In this process of sharing my triumphs and lessons, I hope you can find helpful nuggets of information, and of course, I’d love to hear about your journey too!
Welcome and thank you for visiting!
